A NEW WAY OF APPLYING MUSTARD PLASTERS.
A few evenings ago a medical man •was ca!le.<J to attend a patient, and thought fit rieciassary to apply a mustard plaster. ...After;... having, piepared the plaster lie laid it on a chair for a faw moments,, while he was engaged in compounding some other preparation. A certain gentleman feeling a little tired, thought to take a seat, aud not noticing that the chair was already occupied, .sat down on the plaster. Having _ light pair, of pants on. the mustard began to exercise its wonderful medical powers, making one part of his- unmentionables rather warm.. Not knowing, what, was the occasion of it hie" clmoged db »\ra, but the Dext one was considerably warmer than the first, and he made another move, at the same tjime remarking: t>."l wonder what in thunder is the matter with the chairs; ; they all seem tobahpt?" : = Walking about for a little while and npt, experiencing any relief, he again reaite_ hitabself, and still the plaster stuck to him like a brother. A few minates j elapsed and he remarked: " Doctor^ don't you think it is rather close this eveniog? I feel very mm", '.tr. v The doctor replied,/* No, I don't feel Uncomfortable/ '« Well,'f : he said/ "I mast go out for a moment and get cooled off." But there was no cooling for him; the evening kept getting warmer, and the couldn't account for it in any way. i The doctor changing his mind as regarded th^-roiikeard plaster and forgetting to put it away went off without t^p^i^g'^|;.h'ayrn^' v l^it. it on the chair^ and it was not until sometime after bis departure that the gentleman discovered thathe in faking a seat had unwittingly aoplyed the plaster to his corduroys. '
