Fell and Atkihson, Nelson. j J. W. Humphrey, Esq., Interim Secretary. The object ofthe Company is to work a Coal-minmg L<a«e ot 800 acres, situate at , Waimangaroa Basin, Mount Rochfort, near Westport. which ha* been cirefully selected from three prospecting arf as of 5000 acres, at an expenditure of about £000. Mr R. B. Denniston, Governmsnt Coal' Viewer, and Mr S.Herbert Cox, F.C.S. and i F.G.S., Assistant Geologist, speak most highly both as to the quantity nnd quality of the coal found in this lease, whilst thu analysis made at the Woolwich Dockyard classes it with the best North of England (Hartley) Coil. The railway is completed and open from Westport to Waimangaros, and the Wellington Loal Company have made a branch thence ot one mile five chains to their Mine, from which polDt it is purposed to m»ke a tramway to the coal, about two miles in length. By careful computation it has been estimited tbat the cost of opening up and connecting the Mine with the Government Railway, including all plant, will not exceed £15,000, and that tbe coal can be shipped free on board at Wi stport at 8s per ton. The cost of tbis property to the Company is £5100, the whole of which the promoters have agreed ta accept in piid-uo Ecrip in thu C mpany, and in addition thsy bind themselves to take up nos leas than =Cl7oo of shares, thus showing their faith in the dona fides of the Mine. 'Ihe terras of tho le_se wil compel the Company to have the Mine in workiug order early in 1878, so that shareholders nuy r..ly ! on having returns for their money wiihtn twelve month?. Prospectuses and Forms of Application for ! . Shares may be oblained, and a sample of the • coal seen, together with a plan ofthe property at iha office of A. W. SCAIFE, . l *l s Agent for Nelson.
