AUSTRALIAN SUMMARY.

(Per Easbt.) Melbourne, April 10. The revenue for the quarter ending March 31st was £1,101,908, and the expenditure £1,105,138. The revenue shows an increase of £46,374 over the corresponding quarter of lastyear, and an increase of £176,863 for the year ending March 31. The ship Linguist has been released from quarantine. The German corvette Hertha, homeward bound, was spoken by the Portugese ship Olva. A new automatic buy of American construction was fixed in the south on Saturday. The Supreme Court has granted a rule nisi for leave to appeal to the Privy Council re Langton v. Syme Mr Liddy, the publisher of a theatrical bill entitled " The Coquette," has been fined £5 and £2 2s costs, for having an unregistered press and types in his possession. . Wheat is firmer at 6s 3d to 6s 6d; flour, £13 17s 6d to £14; maize, scarce, at 3s Bd. There is a good enquiry for Hennessy's case brandy, also a large demand for kerosine, the prices for which have an upward tendency. Adelaide. The combination between the banks has been broken through, and the Union Bank intends reducing its rates for deposits. Next Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday are the days fixed for the AH England cricket match. Wheat has been sold at 6s 4^, and has an upward tendency. ,
