Wallace, J. billon commander, left Nelson on Thursday at 3 p.m., and arrived alongside Wanganui Corporation wharf at 9 o'clock yesterday morning; left for Nelson' with 200 sheep and 30 pigs at 8 p.m.; experienced fine weather across, and arrived alongside the Albion Wharf at il a.m. today. She sails for Wanganui on Tuesday at 2 p.m. The ketch- Argus commenced discharging her. cargo of flour, bran, wheat, potatoes, sharps, &c, this morning at the Albion Wharf, prior to her being placed on the cradle. ' The cargo is in first-class condition, not an ounce of it being damaged, the water having evidently never made its way through the lining. This is no doubt owing to the promptness with which the pump was manned, thereby confining the water to the after part of the vessel, and never allowing it to get above the cabin floor. The cargo was surveyed as it came out of the hold by Mr T. Scott, Marine Sutveyor, on behalf pf the insurance companies. The Argus will probably be put on the cradle on Monday morning. The .s.s. Murray, Captain Conway, arrived alongside the Albion Wharf at 8 o'clock this morning from West Coast. She left Nelson on -thel Bth inst at 4- p.m., and experienced strong S.W.. winds and heavy sea until arrival off Westport at 6 p.m. on the 9th; crossed the bar at 6*30, there being a heavy sea running. On the following morning went out- and towed in the schooner Frances Gertrude, from Melbourne," and left for Greymouth at JO, p.m., arriving there at 7 a.m. on the"! lth; took in a cargo of coal, and left next day at 930 aim., arriving off Weslportf at 5 p.m., and crossing the bar at 7-30; sailed for Nelsoh at 10 a.m. yesterday, arriving here ns aboye, Experienced light S.W. wind* and .fine weather on the upward passage. She sails for West Coast ports on Monday atrnoon. The repairs tp the Waipara are now comf" leted, 'atd she will sail for Greymouth and ' [.kitifea early to-niorro'w morning. Although she has been here longer than was expected, the repairs to be effected to her -were so complicated and in such poking places that it was a hard job to get at them. They were also more extensive than at first was thought tOjJbef required, for no sooner was a faufty pifCe pulled down than another was- disjj*-. covered, which', of course, had to be niade' new. The boiler has undergone a thorough overhaul, and also re< elved new tubes. One or two patches have been put on the bottom, which is now in good order. The engines were also submitted to a thorough cleaning. The whole of these repairs have been effeced by Messrs Moutray and Crosbie, of the Soho .Foundry, under the supervision of the . engineer of the steamer. Externally the Waipara has been scraped and painted, and internally she has received the samp, the cabin being decorated and varnished afresh. This has been done by Mr Louisson. The Bteamer now looks as fresh as a daisy, and will not require any further repairs for twelve months. Steam was got up this morning and the Waipara proceeded to the swing posts for the purpose of having her compasses adjusted.
