Eumjphbey, Esq., Interim SecretaryThe object of the Company. \% to work a Coal-mining Lea?e of 800 acres, situate at Waimangaroa Basin, Mount Rochifort! near Weatpprt. which has been c ireful ly selected from three prospecting areas of 5000 acres, at an expenditure of about £1000. < •■ . i Mr R. B. Denmstoa, Governmsnt Coal Viewer.and Mr S.Herbert Cox, F.C.S. and F.G.8., Assistant Geologist, speak most highly both as to the quintity and quality of the coal foun 1 in this lease, whilst the analyst^ made at the Woolwich Dockyard classes it with the best North of England (Haitley) Coal. . The railway is completed and open from Westport to Waimangaroo, and the Wellington I oal Company have made a brunch thence of one mile fire chains to their Mine, from which point it is purposed to muke r tramway to the coal, about two miles in length. By careful computation it has been estimated that the coat of opening up and connecting the Mine with the Government Kaiii way, including all plnnt, will not exceed . £15,000, and that the coal can be shipped free , on board at Wi Btport at 8s per ton. The cost of this property to the Company is £5100, the whole of which the Dromoters have agreed to accept in piid-up fcrip in thu C jmpany, and in addition they bind themselves to take up not leas than £ 1 700 of > shares, thus showing their faith in the bona t ./trfes of the Mine. The terms of the lease wil compel the Company to have tho Mine in working order early in 1878, so that shareholders imy r ly on having returns far their money within twelve monthf. Prospectuses and Forma of Application for i Shares may be obtained, and a sample of tha coal soen, together with a plan of the property at the office of A, W. SCAIFE, 5 *• I 5 «. . Agent for Nelson.
