IT SMITH (The only legally-qualified Medical man ■ . advertising), CONSULTS — On all affections of the Nervous System (no, matter from what cause arising) ; on all broken-down Constitutions ; on all Diseases; arising from early Indiscretions ; on Gout ;■ on Rheumatism. IN these Colonies; those excesses which we have indulged in " hot youth " tell upon : us with fearful interest. Our regrets are useless, our repiniogs futile. The sole idea should be the chances! we possess of remedying the ills we already : have, or combating ttie effects likely to result. Hide it as he may— put on as good au exterior as he can— still is the victim conscious that he is a living lie, and that sooner or later: his vices will discover him to the world. Our Faith; — our obligations to society at large— the welfare of our future offspring— and the', duty we owe- to ourselves— forbids procrasti natiou, and points out to us not to wait till the ravages break out in our constitutions. Before negotiating with a merchant, before engaging with a coufldential clerk; before employing a barrister— a careful man makes inquiries as to their standing ; and, in the case of a legal adviser, both as to hia legal qualifications aud as to hia capabilities of transacting the individual business he consults him upon, btrange to say, however, in the selection of a medical man, thu sufferer frequently ornils thess necessary precautions, and without regard to the ficness, qu ilification, experience, and ability for the particular ailment requiring treatment, he consults the ueareat raau, whose experience and practice, perhaps, lies in quite an opposite direction. Is it astonishing that so many are driven mad, are ruined in heilth, and are bankrupt in spirits, hope, and money? Have 1 not, lor years, pointed out to them that I, Dr. L. L. Smith, am the only legally-qualified medical matt advertising in the Colonies? Have 1 iiot also prosecuted, at my own expense, theae very quacks, and exposed the various nostrums they are selling— such as Phosphodyne, Essence of Life, &c— and had them analysed, and found thtm to oonsist of •• Burnt sugar and Savoring matter," and the certificates I have pkoved to be all forgeries. It is lor th.is reason that I atep out ot the ethics of the profession and advertise, to give those who requrie the services of my branch an opportunity of knowing they can consult a legally qualified man, and one moreover who lias made this his especial study. Dr L L. Smith is the only legally qualified medical man advertising, and he has been in Melbourne 24 years in full practice on Nervous Dheasea L isb v>£ I'owt ratal Debility Syphilitic Affections Want uf Condition Gout and Rheumatism. Dr. L. L. SMITH can beconsulted by letter —Fee £l. Akdieiai>s fo'^arded to all the colonies. Djr. L. L. SMITH, 182 Colliua tt. Bast ,' (Late tne Residence of the GoTecnor), MBLBOOaUB. 210
