The Ringarooma, with the Suez-mail,'* left Melbourne for the Bluff on Tuesday. The Kennedy sailed for Hokitika direct this morning with a number -of immigrants ex Northampton. { The Wallace arrived at Westport at 1 p.m. to-day, and will sail to-night fbr Greymouth. The Lyttelton arrive at Blenheim to-day, and will sail to-morrow for Nelson. The Charles Edward leaves. Greymouth this afternoon for Westport and Nelson. She will arrive on Saturday, and sail for Wellington on Sunday. The cutter Dido sailed last evening for Blenheim with a load of coal. The schooner Arthur Wakefield sailed for Pelorus Sound last evening for a cargo of timber. The schooner Waihopai sailed last night for Waitapu for a load of timber. The,-.cutte£.,.Midge arrived last evening from Waitapu. The cutter which came down the Bay yesterday afternoon turned out to he the Dart from Havelock. . , The. barque Canny Scot this afternoon hauled alongside the Albion Wharf, where she will discharge the remainder of her coal. Captain Bendall, formerly in command of the .steamer Star of the South, is now in charge of the Government ste : amer Hinenioa. The steam tug Koputai recently towed the ship Canterbury, 1300 tons, from Port Chalmers to Lyttelton— a distance of about 200 miles— in 31 hours. The Union Company's s.s. Wellington, Captain Lloyd, came into harbor this morning at 11 o'clock. She left Port Chalmers on Sunday morning at 10 o'clock, and arrived at Akaroa at 6 a.m. on Monday; left at 7 n.m., and arrived afc Lyttelton at II a.m. same day, but in consequence of it being a holiday was unable to land cargo until Tuesday, sailing at 3*30 p.m. for Wellington, and arriving there at 8 a.m. on Wednesday,-', left for Picton at 6*30 p.m., arriving there at midnight, but had to wait to allow the Taranaki to discharge cargo; sailed for Nelson at 2-30 this morning, arriving here as above. Pine weather was experienced throughout. She sailed North with the outward San Francisco mail at 2 p.m. The cutter Margaret Scollay, Captain Scoones, returned, to port this nf ternoon from an oyster cruise, after an absence of a fortnight.; :She. ; first proceeded -to -the. Croixelles, and after" three days dredging there without obtaining anything,' the vessel proceeded-' across to Separation Point, and every nook and* corner from- there to the Sandspit Was (dredged, but with the same luck as before. The Margaret Scollay then came along near the coast to Adele Island, where the dredges were once more dropped, and! with "better luck,, for in two hauls over six -dozen. were, obtained. Erom thence to the. Moutere Bluffs nothing but mussels and mud were obtained. Captaiu Scoones reports the ground very hard in Massacre Bay, and innumerable beds of mussels there, some of them running for miles out to sea. The ciptaiu is confident there are plenty of oysters in Blind Bay^ but on account- of their-heing packed closely • together they are'impregnable, and nothiug but a powerful dredge will lift- them. The Margaret Scollay wiil sail ta-morrbw, proceeding in the direction of Pepin Island. ; The s.s. Murray, Captain Conway, returned to port this mornihg from West Coast, bringing the outgoing San Prancisco mail. She leff Nelson at 10*30 a.m. on the 28th ultimo; experienced strong N.W. winds to Spit, aud S.W. until arrival at Westport at o*4B a.m. onjhe 29th;, left at 10 p.m, same day, .arriving^ off* the Grey bar at 6 a-tn. r and- crossing it at 9-40 a.m. on the 29th; left for Hokitika at 10 a m. on the 31st, arriving there at 12-30 p.m., but was unable to get to the wharf on account of a sharp turn in the channel, so ran into the lagoon, where she lay until Sunday morning's tide, when another attempt wap madei' and.7tbe wharf' reached; left on Mwaa/lo*so-a:m.,-Hmving-at Greymouth at 2 p.m.; took in a cargo of coal and lef fc at 1-50 p.ni. oh Tuesday, .arriving off the Buller bar at B*3o p.m., and crossing it at 10*30; left for Nelson at, nodn yesterday, artiving'jiejre: as above. Experienced light .winds and clear weather on the passage up. -She will sail for West' Coastiports^oh Sunday at 7 a.m. Messrs Shaw, Savill.and Co.'s clipper ship Pleione, Captain Renaut, arrived at Wellington on Saturday afternoon last, after a passage of 107 days from Londou. This is her maiden voyage, she having only been launched in,Oqtober .last afc the Clyde. In appearance she much resembles the Avalanche, but has finer ends than that vessel. She is built of iron, and her registered tonnage is 1091. The motto of the Pleione is mater pleiadum, which is carried at the end of ber bowsprit. She brings a large number of passengers, one of whom is for Nelson.
