Bettiug : 60 to' 4o on the field, ' Hippocampus being the favorite; At the end of half a mile Dead Heat had a strong lead, Puriri second, Danebury third. Puriri soon after passed Dead Heat; and when the mile was completed was leading by several lengths. Danebury put on a spurt at the distance post, but could not get within, two lengths of the winer, Hippocampus a bad third. • Time', 2mins 53isecs. ' Novel Race of 100 soys, !£ miles—Haphazard, 1; Flying Beauty, 2; Merry Bird, 3. Six others were scratched. Won easily. Time, 2mins 25£secs. Hack Race of 20 soys— Kathleen, 1. ;
