The weather; is favorable for the, races, and the attendance promises to be very large during the afternoon. The first event was the Ilurdle Race of 80 soys; two mi'es and a distance. -Eclipse was scratched.. Kildare was tne favorite, and won after a splendid race jvith Banjo, wbo was second. Zetland waa a bad third. Time, 4mins 45_secs. : Ddnedin Jockey Club Handicap, of 200 soys; one mile and three quarters.—All were scratched except|Puugawerewere, Templeto j, ,Guy Fawkes, rand Cloth, of. Gold. Punga". I went off with the lead, with Guy Fawkes close up. Cloth of Gold came well to the front at the end of the mile, but soon fell back. Templeton pulled up well towards the finish, but could not catch Guy, who in the meantime had disposed of Punga. The result was:—Guy Fawkes, 1; Templeton, 2; Cloth of Gold, 3; Pungawerewere, last.
