was for preparing a Municipal Bill. Recently (says the Pictou Pre^s) the Rev. Mr Spear preached a sermon in fche Havelock Church in aid of the sufferers by the Motueka flood, and the people in Havelock, having obtained the idea, carried it further, and supplemented the money received by private subscriptions, until iu the end sufficient was raised to make a very handsome fund. Such a calamity as befel the residents in Motueka is fortunately rare in the colony, but as in that instance the loss was general, the example of the people of Havelock may be followed by the inhabitants of other towns. To pour liquid fire down one's throat in the shape of fiery, adulterated, unmedicated spirits, is to commit slow suicide. When your flagging energies require to be re : nforced, use that safest, purest, aud most invigorating of stimulants, indorsed by the most distinguished chemists, physicians and clergymen— Udolpho Wolfb's Schiedam Aromatic Schnapps. It is the only spirituous invigorant and corrective which does not overexcite the brain.— Advt.
