AUSTRALIAN SUMMARY.
[Per Easbt.] Melbourne, March 15. The cable steamer Kangaroo is now engaged laying the shore end of the cable to connect Penang with Rangoon, giving duplidate communication between India arid Penang. The main cable will be laid on the arrival of the steamer Hibernia, and is expected to be completed by the 28th inst. The flag-ship Wolverine arrived at Hobarton on the 14th. The Victorian Minister of Railways says that individually he is in favor of running Sunday trains, but the majority of the representatives of the people in Parliament were against ifc. Seven hundred and Sixty Chinese were landed at Cooktown on the 14th inst. From Hong Kong 500 more were to leave on the Ist instant, and 800 shortly after, also for Cooktown. Further very extensive Chinese immigration to Queensland is expected.' :
