On Monday morning Monaghan entered Casserley's room, and wanted, to " see out" an unsettled dispute; this was smoothed over at the time, and both parties went to the bar, where they had four glasses of brandy. Both seem then to have gone to bed overcome with drink, and soon afterwards Casserley was found lying on the floor with a cut on the back of his head and blood sprinkled about the floor and walls. Medical assistance was procured after considerable delay. Casserley then complained of extreme pain in the urinary organs, and when relief was administered there was an issue of pure blood. He was then removed to the hospital, but being old there was no chance of his recovery. He said—" Jack Monaghan killed me." He died this morning. The prisoner was remanded till after the inquest.
