AUSTRALIAN SUMMARY.
[Per Hero.] Sydney, March 13. J. B. Jackson, writing to the herald, contradicts Sir G. Onslow's statement that a patient named Creswell, in the Paramatta Asylum, is Arthur Orton. He says he has no tattoo marks on his arms, and the ears not pierced as Orton's are according to Onslow's showing. Much alarm is caused by a case of smallpox at Walgett, the sufferer being covered with variola from head to foot. Melbourne, March 13. The All-England Eleven will probably play in Sydney at the end of the month, conclude with a match at Adelaide, and leave for England by the April mail. Over £3500 was paid in stakes in connection with the late race meeting. It was not a financial suocess. The floods in Ballarat have been very disastrous to property. The water came down in great force, carrying away three houses. Charles Connelly, whose wife died from violence a fortnight ago, has been committed for trial for causing her death. Wheat, 6s 4d to 6s sd; flour, £14 6s 6d to £14 10s; kerosene, selling in quantity at 2s; Shoobridge's hops, 2a to 2s 2d.
