The Lyttelton arrived from Blenheim this morning, and will leave on the return to that port on Monday; r . The Kennedy left Westport at midnight, will arrive this evening, and sail for Wellington at 5 p.m. on Monday. The Wellington will leave Wellington for Picton and Nelson on Monday afternoon. The Charles Edward will sail for West Coast ports at noon to-morrow. The Wallace left Wanganui to-day, and will arrive to-morrow. morning. The^Murray arrived at Westporfc to-day, and will sail for Hokitika to-night. The Tararua should arrive at Hokitika from Sydney on Monday. The Northampton, with immigrants for Nelson, West Coast, and Blenheim, may be daily expected, as she is now over 90 days out from London. The Taupo sailed for Northern ports shortly before; 8 o'clock last evening, and arrived- at New Plymouth at 10-30 a.m. to-day. It is understood that Captain Kennedy, late of the steamer Easby, takes command of the Government steamer Stella. The, Union Company's s.s. Tarauaki, Captaiu Andrew, came into harbor shortly after 1 1 o'clock last night, and was berthed along-, side the Commercial Wharf. She left Onehunga at 9-30 a.m. on Thursday, and proceeded under easy steam to Taranaki, arriving off that port at daylight yesterday; after a stayof four hours, during which the passengers aud cargo were landed, she sailed i for Nelson at 9-15 a.m., arriving here as | above. The usual light winds and fine weather were experienced. The Taranaki sailed for Southern ports shortly after 10 o'clock this morning The Union Company's s.s. Beautiful Star, Captain Bernech, put in an appearance last evening at 7-30, and was berthed alongside the Government Wharf. According to the log-book, for a perusal of which we are indebted to the chief officer, Mr Campbell, the Beautiful Star left Port Chalmers at 1-30 p.m. on February 20th, and arrived at the Bluff at noon on the 21st; left at 6*15 p.m. same- day, but on getting outside the Heads there was found to be such a heavy sea running that the little sbeamer was compelled to put back. A start was made at 630 next morning, and the anchor was dropped in Preservation Inlet at 8 a.m. on the 23rd; was wind-bound there until 5 a.m. on the 26th," when she sailed, arriving at Dusky Sound at 12 30 p.m.; left at noon on the 27th, passing through Doubtful and Thompson's Sounds, and arriving at Milford Sound at 5-30 a.m. on the 28th; left again at 7*30 am., making Martin's Bay at 10;20a.m. same day, but it being too rough to land cargo, proceeded on to Big Bay, arriving there at noon; came to an anchor, and landed cargo at 6*30 a.m. on the Ist instant; left at 7-30 a.m. for Martin's Bay, arriving there at 9,a.m.; landed cargo, and sailed at I p.m., arriving at Jackson's Bay at ,10 p.m.; landed cargo, and left at 1 a.m. onthe 2nd, arriving off Hokitika at 8 p.m. same day, and crossing the bar at 11 next day; took the ground inside, but the tug Lioness having been called into requsition, the Beautiful Star was towed off safely, ard made fast to the wharf at 1 p.m. Through the impracticable state of the bar, which, wou!(iji|ot admit of a steamer of the Beautiful Star's draught of water crossing i£ sfre P was detained there until 8-30 a.m. on the I"2 th, when she made her escape, arriving off Greymouth at 11 a.m., and crossing the bar at 930 a.m. next day; sailed for Westport at 10 a.m., and arrived off that place at 5-30, p.m.!;jsame day, crossing the bar at 9 p.m.; ; lefttJfir .Nelson at.lo'3o p.m , arriving here ' as above. From the time of her leaving Port Chalmers until making the placid waters of the Sounds nothing but a continuation of strong S.W. winds was experienced, thence to arrival here moderate winds with fine weather. The Beautiful Star steamed to the Commercial Wharf at 8 o'clock this morning, and," after discharging about fifty tons of cargo there, sailed for Lyttelton and Dunedin at 10 am.
