Wellington, Saturday. The subscriptions raised here towards the presentation to Captain John M'Lean, late commander of the Kiugarooma, amount to 115 guineas, aud fhey are still coming in. It is believed that about £1000 will be subscribed in this colony altogether. Christchorch, Friday. The wheat market is declining. Millers and merchants are disinclined to operate except, at a heavy reduction on late rates ; 4s 6dis the price offered for good samples. Statistics just published shew nearly one million bushels in excess of any previous year. Oats, 2s to 2s 3d ; barley, 3s 9d to 4s 6d ;, flour, £15 : to £16 ; cheese, 7d to 7-*-d ; butter, Is 3d. The agricultural statistics for the present year give the following returns :— Number of holdings, 4473, of which 2760 are freehold. Land broken up but not in crop, 130,046 acres. Land in wheat, 92,447 • acres: estimated produce, 2,707,625 bushels.. Oats, 75,354 acres: 2,106,800 bushels. --Barley, 10,047 acres: 505,701 bushels. Hay, 17,123 acres: estimated produce, 21,213 tony Land in grass, 316,078 acres. Potatoes, 3424 acres: estimated produce, 25,886 tons. Other -crops, 58,251 acres. Total amount of. land^inder crop, including sown grasses, 653,487. acres. New Plymouth, Friday. The reported native meeting at Waitara will not, it is said, take place. The agricultural statistics for 1877 have been published. Holdings, 745; wheat, 1016* acres; bats (grain), 711 acres; barley,. 48 acres; grass, 82,340 acres; potatoes, 596 acres; other crops, 268 acres;— total, 85|,159 acres. . Prime samples are quoted at 5s 6d to 5s 7d; medium 5s to 5s 4d; oats are in good enquiry at, for milling, 2s 6d to 2s 8d; seed, 2s 4d to 2s sd; barley, none of new crop yet forwarded. Lyttelton, Friday. The N.Z. Shipping Company have received London telegraphic advices of the arrival of the three first wool ships— the : Waitangi, from Lytteltou, after a passage of 90 days;' the Waimate, from Wellington; 73 days-' and the Columbus, from Napier, 82 days: ■"
