The' Lyttelton arrived at Wanganui yesterday,s and sails for Nelson to-day. The 1 Government steamer Stella hove up anchor about 11 o'clock this morning, and steamed away. She is bound for New Plymouth, but will call in at the French Pass to lay down a buoy picked up by her on her last trip, and brought here to be cleaned and paintedThe harqiientine Mary Waddcll, 21 days out from Newcastle, bound for Napier, with 200 tons 'of coal on board, ran down the Bay this afternoon, having sustained severe damage in a gale, including the loss of topmast, galley, &cT We have not yet been able to ascertain full particulars, as she has not entered the harbor. The fMaid' of Italy arrived from Riwaka last evening with a cargo of fruit. The schooner- Awaroa arrived yesterday afternoon too*- late for the tide, and consequently had to bring up until the tide flowed, when she came into harbor. She brings a cargo or sheep from Wanganui for Mr J. R. Mabin.- 'A T|l€ Union-. Company's s.s. Wellington, Captain Xloyd, came into harbor at. 12*30 this morping. She left Onehunga at 11 a.m. on Saturday, and arrived off New Plymouth at 5 a.m. yesterday; disembarked and embarked passengers and landed cargo, and proceeded on to kelson at 10 a.m., passing the Hawea at 1 1 a.m., and arriving here as above;- -Fine weather marked the run down. She sailed South at 10-30 a.m". The ■fpst.aaya-.r— Advices were received by the Suez mail of the departure of the ship Northampton, ou the 20th December, for Nelson and Wellington, with immigrants for both places. Those for Wellington amount to 227 soiils, equal to 188 statute adults. The Northampton goes first to Nelson, at which portihe will land a number of immigrants for Westland, who will be forwarded thither at tbe Government expense. Of the number above given 32 souls (27 adults) are nominated immigrants, 63 souls (46£ adults) are selected by the Emigrant and Colonists Aid Corporation for the Fielding settlement.
