The Nelson Evening Mail. MONDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 1877.

The monthly competition for the medal presented to the City" Cadets by' Capt. Godfrey took place . on Saturday, when it was won by Corporal Leiz. Tub Primate, Bishop of Dunedin, and the southern members of the Synod sailed for their respective homes iv the Wellington at ten o'clock this niorning, when a large number of their friends assembled on the wharf to bid them adieu. . At the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning, William Walker was fined 5s and costs for drunkenness. — Mrs Graeser y. G. B. Hall : This was a judgment summons for £14 12s. An order was made for payment before the 10th of March, or defendant to be imprisoned for two months. A public meeting is to be held to-night for the purpose of considering the best means of assisting the sufferers by the late floods in the Motueka and adjoining districts. To hope to raise such an amount as would reimburse the sufferers for all their losses would be absurd, but there are some cases iv which immediate relief is required, and it is, we presume, to the assistance of those who have lost their all and are dependent upon their more fortunate neighbors for their daily bread that the amount collected will be devoted. The official report of the Motueka Highway Board's Secretary, which we publish to-day, will give some idea of the extent of the damage done by the floods to the roads and bridges. The funeral of the late Sir David Monro* took place on Saturday afternoon, and was attended by a large number of his friends. The service was read by the Bishop of ■ Nelson and the Rev J, C. Andrew. It may not, perhaps, be generally known that the Mortuary Chapel recently erected in the cemetery owes its existence eutirely to Sir David Monro, who for the last two or three years iuterested himself much iv the matter aud raised subscriptions for the building. It was a strange coincidence that the first body to be borp.e into the chapel was that of Sir David.

A Hint to the Ladies. Nervous excitement produces nervous weakness. Female complaints, which are almost always accompanied by excessive nervousness, bring oh debility. Bilious derangement and inactivity of the bowels also usnally exist in connection with nervous debility. Nervousness, indigestion and Constipation are promptly re--lie ved by the pleasant expedient pf swallowing^ three or four times a day a wineglassf ul of Udolpiio Wolfe's Schiedam Aromatic Schnapps.— Advt.
