GENERAL SYNOD.

The Synod met at 3*30 p.m. yesterday. i Several alterations were made in the Standing Orders, iv accordance with notices by Mr Acland. It was moved by the Bishop of Dunedin, and carried unanimously, That the best thanks of this Synod be given to the Right ' Rev the Bishop of Nelson for his energetic j and self-denying efforts to ensure the success of the work of the Board of Theological Studies. | Resolved, on the motion of [Archdeacon Harper, That this Synod desires fo recommend to members of future General Synods the advisability of giving intimation of any | notices of motion they may intend to bring j before the Synod in accordance with the provisions of Statute 6, Clause 12. The Bishop of Nelson moved, That the several Dioceses be assessed for the expenses of this Synod to the extent of £150, in the same proportion as in 1874 -Auckland. £21; I Christchurch, .£2l; Wellington, £21 ; Nelson, I £17; Waiapu, £7 10s; Dunedin, £17 10s | (increased to £21). This was postponed till to-day as some mistakes had been made in I one or two little amounts. j The whole of the evening sitting was occupied in discussing' the Ecclesiastical ! Tribunal Bill, and at 12-15 a.m. the Chairman reported progress and obtained leave to sit again, and the Synod adjourned till 3*30 this afternoon. It was moved that the Synod at its rising do adjourn till II o'clock to-day, I the proposal, however, did not find favor with the majority. The Synod will sit to-morrow and probably over Thursday, if necessary, although several members leave to-morrow by the Taupo.
