MAGISTRATES' COURT.

[Before T. Renwick and J. Stmons, Esqs,J.J.P.] William Stallard, of the Miners' Arms, was charged on the information of Sergeant Nash with selling liquor between the hours of one and two on Friday morning. Mr Fell appeared for the defendant, who admitted having sold liquor, but stated that some country people who had come into.town for the holiday, and had been staying at his house, were about to leave for their homes and wished for a drink before they started. -He also admitted that there were two townspeople who had drinks at the same time The Bench said that under the circumstances, and seeing that it was holiday time, they would inflict the lowest penalty of £2 and costs. CIVIL CASES. Wymond y. Sheppard.— Action to recover £3 10s for goods supplied. Judgment for plaintiff for amount claimed, and costs. £1 10s. ' Strike and Leech v. T. Hunter.— Action to recover £l 43 3d for ginger beer and lemonade supplied to defendant. Judgment for amount claimed and costs. Cook v. Westrupp, — Action to recover £16 5s 3d for meat supplied. Judgment for amount claimed and costs, to bo paid in monthly instalments of £2 each.
