A curious incident occurred at .the sitting ot the General Lodge the other day. A brother was. warm and gio vying in the middle of, a philosophic, speech, when a lad was admitted with a telegraphic message from the Thaasea. : As the chairman glanced at the telegram, his eyes seemed to glow with, new delight, and, turning to the Council, he said : " Brothers and sisters,—! have just received the pleasing message by telegram that my dear wife has boen safely delivered of a son and heir." A general shout of exultation followed, and a score of voices uttered : <( We wi6h you many happy returns of the day."— Star. Kerosene will soon become ooe of the staple products of Russia. An American speculator who has ," struck oil " io the valley of the Volga, has taken on lease 350,000 acres of land which he has already began lo work. He promises to sell petroleum at ,30 per ceut under the price of that imported from America, and he has already shown the value of his discovery by supplying Borne of the steamers on the Volga. ..It is said ; that the companies which have tried heating with the new fuel are quite satisfied- with the result of the experiment. j
