Sydney, Friday. After an exciting personal debate the motion of want confidence against the Government was negatived by three. The Miuister of Lands against whom a charge of misconduct was proved resigned his portfolio yesterday. The delegates have been entertained at a picnic to the Blue Mountains. Arrived — Wakatip v. It is understood that the New Zealand Government has secured an advance of half a million from the Bank of New South Wales for two years on favorable terms. The Cable Conference closed to-day. Amongst other resolutions carried are the following:— That the several Governments of South Australia, Queensland, and Weste -n Australia be invited to open negotiations for the . onstruction of cables connecting their several colonies with Singapore or Ceylon, and the Government of New Zealand for the construction of a cable from that colony to the United States; that in such negotiations the Government of New Zealand enter into communication with the Government of the United States for the purpose of procuring their consent to contribute to the payment of any subsidy that may be payable in respect of the same; that in all negotiations of the several Governments the necessity of procuring a reduction of the present tariff be especially kept in view, the maai mini being 6s per word.
