The Colonial Agency report as follows nnder date Loudon, December 14, 1876: — Wool. — The fourth and concluding series of public sales of colonial wool for this year, which commenced 31st October, closed on 2nd instant. The quantities catalogued show that advantage was taken of the good prices ruling to clear out stocks; it would appear that besides the 30,000 bales held over from last sales, about 15,000 bales of second band wool have passed the hammer. On the 18th tsltimo we advised the opening of the sales, the. unusually large attendance of buyers, and the improved tone of the market up to that date; subsequently, when about twothirds of the quantity on offer had been disposed of, the attendance of buyers became slacker, aud prices somewhat declined; bat the relapse was only temporary, and the sales closed at the highest point reached during . their progress. Since the close of the sales the market has been quiet, but there is an active demand for wool which, coining so very soon, augurs well for the next series, the opening date for which is not yet fixed. Prices current for New Zealand wool; — Washed Fleece: Superior, Is B£d to 2s 3d; •medium, ls 5d to Is 8d; inferior and faulty, Is osd to Is 4£d per lb.
