INTERPROVINCIAL. Auckland, Wednesday, On the Auckland twenty-two going to tho wickets for their second innings Gleeson and Dufaur took the bats to the bowling of Southerton and Eminett. Runs came very slowly, and at two o'clock the game stood: Dufaur, c and b Southerton. 0; Gleeson, c and b Emmett, 5; Abraham, b Emmet., 0; Carter, not out, 5; Lynch, not out; byes, 1. The first three wickets fell for five runs. On play being resumed, Carter sent Southerfc.n to long-on for 3; L/nch, after making 2, was caught by Selby off Emmett. When Rees went to the wickets it was hoped tbat he would retrieve matters; he got 3 together when Emmett sent Yates a trimmer, and he retired without increasing the score. Mumford then went in. Rees skied one towards Ulyett, who caught it; 7 wickets for 19, Robinson filled the gap. The bowling of Southerton and Emmett is too good for the Aucklanders. Emmett's first ball levelled Robinson's stumps; 8 wickets for 19. At the luncheon, the Mayor in the chair, Mr Barstow, R.M„ vice-chairman, after the usual loyal and patriotic toasts, the Mayor proposed the health of the All England Eleven. Lillywhite responded and advised continual practice. He expressed regret that the Auckland public did not adequately support cricket clubs, and concluded by proposing the health of the Auckland team. Robinson responded, and said that Auckland would never be able to play the Euglish Eleven until they received instructions from a professional player, and hoped the time would soon come when they would have such. Pooley also responded. Bennett said the attendance was not so large as he expected, but he was well satisfied with the hospitality of the Aucklanders, and hoped he should be as well treated elsewhere. After luncheon play was resumed.
