L.. J. L. Augarde reports the sale of furniture at Captain M< Arthur's. There was a good attendance, and satisfactory prices were obtained. Messrs Goldsborough and Co., of Melbourne, report under date November 29 :— Large quantities of wool have come forward for disposal during the month, and the season is now in .full operation. The catalogues have comprised 39,091 bales, and about 34,000 bales have been sold, making a total ol 44,000 bales disposed of since the opening of the sales on the 18th of October. Prices remained steady at about the rates quoted in our. circular, until the 16th instant, on which date English telegrams were received from London, dated November 3rd, advising that the auction sales there had opened on the 3lst October, and were progressing at au average advance of ld on greasy, lsd on scoured, and 2d per lb on washed fleece, over the rates of the previous series' .of July and August. This had the immediate effect of raising prices here, and the favorable telegrams since received, reporting a further advance, have caused increased firmness, until we may now quote an average improvement to the extent of about ldto i£d per lb. On some descriptions of choice greasy, suitable for America, the advance has been quite Hd in several instances; but on iuferior descriptions barely Id rise has been established. It must, however, be borne in mind that all through the season buyers have been operating in expectation of advanced rates, and that they have consequently given higher prices than could have been anticipated, when the aspect of the hotre market before the present London sales opened is considered.
