Afc 2*30 a.m. Captain Caider heard the second officer calling out to starboard, and running affc to the wheel. He immediately came on deck, and saw rocks towering above his head, when she immediately struck, and, remained hard and fast. The vessel at the, time was going full speed. Every endeavor was made to get her off. At this time she was making no water. After being on the rocks for about one hour she commenced to rapidly fill, and in less than five minutes her fires *wece out. By this time some of the passengers had got ashore over her bows, and boats having been got out, were taken aft, and the whole of the passengers,, mails, luggage, and provisions landed about half a mile through the surf on a sandy beach. Her hull is moving about, and her decks awash, showing that her bottom is completely gone. She is lying on a flat ledge of the rocks afc the base" of a bold wooded bluff. If she had struck a little further forward or aft, she would_have gone down iu deep water.
