The Nelson Evening Mail. THURSDAY, DECEMBER 7, 1876.
The receipts at the door on the second day of the Horticultural Show amounted to £21 6s, making a total for the two days of £54 6s. This was irrespective of season tickets, of which between thirty and forty were sold. It will be seen by our advertising columns that the elections for the Ridings of Wangamoa, stoke, Wai-iti, Moutere, aud Karamea are to take place by the 22nd instant. Electors would do well to refer to our issue of the 4th instant, containing an extract from the Gizeile defitiding the boundaries of the different ridings. The monthly competition for tbe medal presented to the Nelson City Rifles by Capt. Godfrey took place this morning, when the successful competitor was Corporal D. Burns, with a score of 43. Color-Sergeant Cross man, who made a similar score, takes second place as Burns' score was highest at the longest range. This being the fifth time the medal has been won by Corporal Burns it becomes his absolute property under the rules made by the giver.
