Melbourne, Tuesday. Briseis is backed for the Cup at ten to one. Feu d' Artifice is still the favorite. Arrived — Ringarooma, yesterday. Sydney, Tuesday. The Rev. P. H. Cornford, of Auckland, has accepted the pastorate of the Baptist Church in Sydney. The champion foot race Applett v. Watson, for £400 aside, was won easily by the former. The Suez mail arrived at Adelaide this morning after the quickest passage on record. Messrs Cook and Wills are passengers for New Zealand.
