Steeplechase Handicap : The Moose, 6 yrs, list Gibs; Jack, 5 yrs, lOst; Tommy Dodd, aged, 12st 71bs; Zetland, 5 yrs, lOst. The race privileges, excepting the cards, were sold yesterday for £385.

The Metropolitan Show will be held next Thursday. The following are the entries:— Sheep: Merinos, 38; Leicesters, 304; Lincolns, 99; Cotswolds, 26; Southdowns, halfbred, and fat, 53. Breeding cattle, 94; fat cattle, 42; draught horses, 95; blood stock, II; Carriage horses, hacks, and hunters, 49; Dairy produce, 724; implements, 114; pigs, poultry, sheep, and dogs, 86. The New Zealand manufactory produce and wool entries are over 100 more than last year. There was no demonstration to celebrate the abolition of the provinces.

Wellington; Friday. Mr O'Shea reports produce prices as follows—Flour, £15; oats, 2s 9d to 3s; bran, Is 3d to Is 4d; wheat, 5s to 5s 6d; pollard, £8; ham; lO.^d to ll>-d; bacon, 9^d to lo'-d; potatoes, £4 10s; cheese, 9d to lod; maize 4s Cd.

Auckland, Wednesday. A monster public reception is to be given to Sir George Grey and those who voted with him.

Mr Reader Wood has been appointed to sign cheques until the end of the year.
