A ballast train ran into a mob of horses which were trespassing on the railway at Rangiora, Canterbury, the other day, when one horse was killed and another nearly so. The owner was afterwards fined £5 and costs for allowing the animals to trespass on the line. -Kather rough on the owner. News has been sent by Te Aro, of the Murimotu country, that a magnißcent hot water spring (puia) has been discovered at Waitaiki.. in said country, and much nearer Wanganui than the raupo springs. The natives are much elated, as enhanced value will be given to that country from the discovery.
