The Charles Edward arrived at Greymouth from Hokitika at ten o'eiock this morning. She leaves for Nelson via Westport to-mor-row morning. The Murray' sailed for Wellington this morning with a number of passengers ex Kennedy. The new Government steamer Stella left Pieton for Nelson this morning, and will arrive by t is evening's tide. The Otago arrived at the Bluff last evening. The Taupo left Onehunga this morning, v*ill arrive here to-morrow evening, and sail South on Friday morning, conveying excursionists to the Canterbury races. The signal for a topsail schooner has been flying this afternoon. It will probably turn out to be the Awaroa from Wanganui. The Arawata arrived at Melbourne yesterday. The Lyttelton was successfully floated last evening, and was hauled alongside the Albion Wharf, -where she will receive her boiler. The Lady Barkly sailed on her usual trip to Golden Bay this morning, the weather yesterday having interfered with her departure. The schooner Waihopai arrived from Wanganui early this morning, having made a fair passage across. She left Wanganui on Monday evening. The schooner Uno arrived this morning from Adele Island with a cargo of stone. The cutter Maid of Italy sailed for Riwaka this morning. The barque Sing Tai sailed from Melbourne for Newcastle ou October 18th. The barquentine Annie S. Hall appears to be, as far as the crew are concerned, one of the liveliest vessels that has visited this port for some time past. Last night only two of the crew were on board, the rest having cleared, and this morning these two were wanting. If all the rumors are true that are flying about the captain will find it a difficult matter to pick up a crew. The p.s. Wallace, Captain Scott, entered the harbor at 8.-15 this morning. She left Nelson at 10 p.m. on October 26th, arriving ut Blenheim on the 27th at 1 p.m.; discharged cargo and loaded up with wool, leaving at 10.30 a.m. on the 28th; crossed the bar at 11.50 a.m., and, after a pleasant smooth water passage across the Straits, arrived at Wellington at 5.45 p.m.; left at 6.30 p.m. ou the 30th, aud arrived at Blenheim at 7.30 a.m. on the 31st; left again at 3.20 p.m., experiencing a strong head wind, which continued until arrival here as above. She sails for Blenheim, and Wellington to-morrow afternoon at four o'clock. Messrs M'Meckan, Blackwood, and Co.'s s.s. Albion, Captain J. W. Clarke, left Sydney for Hokitika at 4.50 p.m. on October 25th, arriviug off that port at 11.30 a.m. on the 30th; was tendered by the Wai para at 7 p.m., and at 7.30 proceeded on to Greymouth; was tendered there by the Dispatch at 9 p.m., and left at 9.35 for Nelson, arriving here at 7.45 p.m. yesterday. Experienced -fine clear weather with light variable winds aud calm sea throughout. Sighted a topsail schooner yesterday morning near Rock's Point. We are indebted to Mr Douden for files and report. The Albion sails for Melbourne via, South and Hobarton at 7 o'clock this evening. The s.s. Kennedy, A. Palmer commander, returned to port this morning at six o'clock. She reports leaving Nelson for the Wesj Coast ou Wednesday, the 25th, at 2 p.m. and after a fine weather passage arrived at' Westport at ten o'clock on Thursday morning; left for Hokitika at 6*30 p m., arriving off that port at daylight on Friday morning; made an unsuccessful attempt to cross the bar, there not being sufficient water; steamed out again and entered the lagoon. Landed half the cargo into lighters that day, and next morning there being a better tide managed to cross the inner bar, and reached the wharf. Landed the remainder of the cargo and sailed for Greymouth at 5*30 p.m., arriving alongside the wharf at eight o'clock; landed cargo and took in 80 tons coal aud sailed at 8 p.m. on tlie 30th for Westport, arriving there at 5 a.m. on Tuesday; left again for Nelson at 10 a.m. Experienced strong N.W. winds with heavy rain on the passage up, arriving here as above. She sails for West Coast ports on Friday morning at 11 o'clock.
