Melbourne, October 22. A Bill for prohibiting the importation of indecent literature bas been passed. Governors Normanby and Cairns have expressed their inability to accept Sir George Bowen's invitation to visit Melbourne. Two riders in Wilson's Circus sustained concussion of the brain, and one died. The Premier has declined to give a definite reply re street tramways. John Bell's estate pays £30,000 duty. A London telegram quotes Hennessy's brandy at 7s 6d; new Kent hops, 2s 6d; oats, 3s Id to 3s 3d; flour, £14. The National Bank has declared a dividend of twelve per cent, and carried forward £76,000. Sydney, October 23. Two brothers named Manning were drowned in the Hunter River by a boat being capsized. The town of Sydney is being supplied with milk from Berrina. Consequent on the superabundance of labor in the Northern parts, the Government have instructed the Agent-General to reduce the number of immigrants. A number of laborers at Townsville have adopted a manifesto to send to tbe Agricultural Laborers Union in England, holding up Queensland, as a field for labor, to public scorn, and as a gigautic imposture . The Soutli British Company have purchased a block of land at Brisbane at £96 per foot. A tender for the Western Railway Extenion has been accepted at £2700 per mile.
