Wellington, Wednesday. A report has heen widely circulated that Ministers during the recess intend to live in the Provinces to which they respectively belong as "Resident Ministers," but it is understood that, with the exception of Mr Whitaker, who cannot give up his professional duties in Auckland, the report is entirely untrue. Thursday. Arrived: Barquentino May, 95 days out from Foo Chow, with 330 tons new season's teas, besides matting, rice, and other Chinese goods. The City Council have declined to purchase the University building for £30,000. Christchurch, Wednesday. Miss Leonora Simonsen, daughter of Madame Fanny Simonsen, was married at the Jewish Synagogue to-day to Mr A. M. Davis, son of a Melbourne merchant. There was a crowded attendance, and the Opera Company's band played Mendelssohn's Wedding March.
