The Murray arrived at Hokitika this morning. She will leave to-morrow morning for Nelson, calling at the intervening ports for the outward San Francisco mail, and will arrive here on Friday. The Taupo leaves Onehunga to-day, will arrive to-morrow night, and sail for the South at 9 a.m. on Wednesday. The Lady Barkly sails for Coilingwood direct, this evening. The Wallace left on Saturday night with a number of miners ex Wellington, and arrived at Greyniouth this morning. She will sail to-morrow for Nelson direct, arriving here on Wednesday. She mil return to the Coast on Friday. The ketch Standard sailed for Marahau last evening for a cargo of timber. The schooner Australian Maid sailed this morning for Awaroa. Messrs Freeman Brothers' schooner Nelson was to leave Lyttelton for Nelson on Thursday last with a cargo of grain. The ketch Prospect arrived on Saturday afternoon from Fern Town with a cargo of coal for the Gas Works. The Ringarooma is to leave Melbourne for Hokitika on Wednesday. A telegram received at Hokitika last Thursday stated that even then 225 miners for the Kumara goldfield had booked by her. There are no signs yet of the ships Helen Denny and Howrah, from London, now due. It is just possible that they have experienced the same winds as the Alhambra did ou the passage down -strong head winds— as at that time they should have been between Tasmania and New Zealand.
