Sydney, Wednesday. 1 The City of New York arrived at 2 a.m. The cable steamer Agues also arrived from Singapore, i A report is current of the abandonment of the Pacific Mail Service. The City of New York takes this month's mails, and there is no provision apparently for next month. Melbourne, Wednesday. A burglaxy was effected at the residence of Mr J. T. Smith, aud money amounting to £100 was stolen. The Arawata leaves for the Bluff to-mor-row, and the Ringarooma with the Suez mall on Monday, via Hokitika.
