The harbor yesterday morning presented one of the most animated appearances that it has shown for some time. At seven o'clock sharp the steamer Taupo, bound South, took her departure, and shortly afterwards the steamer llawea, with about 100 diggers for the Kurnara goldfield, came alongside the doraw.'erelal Wharf. Then there was the usual bustle and excitement consequent upon so many passengers landing, during which operation one or two in a greater hurry than the rest dropped their swags overboard. Then came the departure of the Charles Edward for Greymouth witli the transhipped diggers, whose departure was witnessed by :i great number of people. As the Charles jEdward passed the llawea three hearty oheers were given for the latter boat, which was responded to by those on board. The Wallace sailing for Westport and Greymouth concluded the list of departures. There were also auchored in the stream a number of coasting vessels, which gave the harbor a 2»retty effect. Altogether yesterday was one of the liveliest days in the shipping line that Jias been experienced for a long time past.
