To the Editor of the 'Evening Mail.'
Sir, — Allow me to draw attention to the fact of general merchandise, timber, and firewood being conveyed by rail on the Sunday. I enter no protest on religious grounds, although I conceive that the Government of the country should so far respect the religious scruples of the community as not needlessly to do violence to them, whether those scruples are right or wrong. Bnt in the interests of labor, I do very earnestly protest against any infringement of the working man's day of rest.— l am, &c, Civis.
