THE RECHABITES AND FREE TEMPLARS.
To the Editor of the 'Evening Mail.'
Sir— ln correcting an error, in my letter of Saturday, I did not think to bring forward anything like public controvery, but since Mr Jones' letter .of Tuesday I must say a few more words. I merely wished to show that Good " Templary was iiot (and could not be) a Benefit Society, whereas the Free Templars were altogether a benefit. The Free Templars do not have to pay capitation tax, uelther do they, help to support the Grtfnd Lodge and its officers. All the funds of each subordinate lodge are retained for the entire benefit of the members, independent of the Sick and Benefit Society. Why Mr Jones introduced' the Rechabites I am at a 1033 to know, unless it was as an advertisement for the Order, but, at the same time, I thank him ou behalf of the' Order, as some of us belong to it. United Order of Free Templars Sick and Benefit Society embraces all the advantages; held out by Mr Jones, as well as others, amongst which is the low .charge . of admission. — I am, &c, C. SCHOFIELD. September 20th, 1876.
