The Nelson Evening Mail. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 1876.

We understand that Mr Masters, who has been manager of the Eichmond i Hill Mining Company smce its forma- j tionj has found the climate of Coiling- I wood too inclement for his health and 1 is about to proceed to Victoria to ! develope a rich silver mine in that ' colony. Mr Morley, of Melbourne, a: pupil of Professor Ulrich, has accepted ; the vacant post, and proceeded to Collingw.opd on "Wednesday in. company with. Mr U.K. Curtis, Mr Shallcrass, and Dr. Irvine, the directors resident here. At the mine they had a conference with their colleague Mr W. E; Washbourn, and spent most of the day in improving their acquaintance with the ground and the work doing on, or rather in it. We are glad to hear that they are able to corroborate from personal observation the accounts already transmitted by the interim minin^ manager Mr H. P. Washbourn. We hope to giye some particulars in an early issue. As the Sunday School at the Baptist Church has outgrown the present sitting accommodation, a Service of Song on the " Pilgrim's Progress " is advertised for Wednesday . evening next, when a collection will be made in aid of procuring additional seats. Doubtless, the object of the meeting, combined with the attraction offered, will have the effect of drawing a good attendance. The next quarterly cattle fair is announced to take place at Kichtnond on Wednesday next. We remind our readers of the nomination of three Councillors which is to take place on Monday nexfc. The retiring members are his Worship the Mayor, Crs Gray and Levien, all ol whom are eligible for re-election. Up to the time of our going to press Cr Everett and Mv E. Pollock were the only two nominated. The return football match between the Wellington and Nelson Collegians will be played in the Botanical Eeserve on Wednesday nexfc; The following are the names of the two teams: — Wellington College : W.
