One report says the books in no way represent the etate of tie City finances. Dunedin, Thursday. Tenders for the street tramway are to close in three months. Mr Tunbridge, who taved the lives ot the crew of the Dagmar off the coast recently, has been preheated with a gold watch. The Committee of the late public meeting have re.olved that weekly meetings of the committee ehould be held till the cloie of the session in order to watch the course of events, an.l to take lurther action if found necessary. They have also resolved to opea communication with committees in the country districts, and in co-operation with them they promise combined action as circumstances arise iv such direction as may be found desirable. A house in Albany Btreet was destroyed by fire last night. It was iusured for £150 in theNewZtalanl.and £150 in the Royal office.
