Wellington, for South— 2 cases springs, 20 bags malt, 2 bales, 57 bales wool, Edwards and Co $ 2 kegs, 2 coops, Buchholz; 1 trunk, Miss Dodson. The Kennedy which left here yesterday morning bad to take shelter at Totaranui la.t night, and is probably still lying there, as the weather outside is very bad. The Taupo only left Pictoti this morn'ng. She arrived tbis aftern ion, and will sail for the North in the evening. The steam tug Lioness, Captain Nolan, put into this port .ariy this morning. She left Port Chalmers at 3.45 p m. on Saturday last, bound for Hokiti'na, passed Pompsy's Pillar at 10.30 p.m. next day; was off Cape Campbell on the 28th at 945 p.m., and at 1 am. on the 29 th hove-to in Cloudy Bay, owing to a strong S.W. gale with thick weather j started again same morniog, entering Tory Channel at 8 30; pas.el Jackson's Head at noon, came through the French Pass at 4 p.m.. and rounded Farewell Spit at 9.45 p m. At 2 am. yesterday brought up under the lee of Cape Farewell to take Bhelter from a S.W. gale, which veered round to S.S.W., blowing so hard that nt 2 p.m. the Lioness waa obliged to heave up anchor ani run for shelter, and as there was not then enough fuel to take the steamer down to the Coast, Captain Nolan stood on for Nelscn, arriving oil the Boulder Baok at midnight, and entering the harbor as above. For the first part of the passage experienced light N E. winds, the barometer being very low, until midnight on Monday, when the wind came round from the S.W., blowing a perfect gale. Captain No'an reports a steamer running from the Spit to take shelter at Tot-.r_nui, but could not make her out. The Lioness is owned by Messrs J, Chesney and Co., Hokitika, aud lor the past four months has been at Dunedin undergoing a thorough overhaul snd renovation, and is now a new boat. After taking in a f_w tons of coal, she will sail for Hokitika probabiy this evening. The steamer Maori was docked at Port Chalmers on Friday last, to be sighted, cleaned, and painted, prior to her monthly visit to the different ports on the West Coast. It was found that she received no damage when she grounded on the Greymouth oandspit beyond the loss of the composition on her bottom. The Albion left Sydney for New Zealand yesterday, and may be expected to arrive on tbe West Coast on Monday.
