The Kennedy arrived at Westport this morning early, and left for Greymouth at tea o'clock. The Murray arrived at Wanganui e*rly tbis morning. The Arawata should be heard of at the Bluff to-night or early to-morrow morning, having left Melbourne on the 14th inst The Lyttelion leaves Blenheim for Nelson to-morrow. The Hokitika bar is still reported impracticable. The Union Company's s 8. Taranaki, Capt. Andrew, came into harbor this morning at 6.30, and was berthed alongside tbe Commercial Wharf. She let fort Chalmers at 1 30 p.m. on the 14th instant, and arrived at Ljttelton at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, sailed again at 4 p.m., arming at Wellington at 9.30 a.m. on Wednesdiy; left yesterday at noon, and arrived at Picton at 430 p.m. ; sailed for Nelson at 7 30, arriving here as above. Fine weather was experienced throughout. After discharging her cargo the Taranaki steamed over to the Boulder Bank, whore she was beaehei for tbe purpose of having her bottom cleaned and painted. She sails ior the North at 7 p m. The schooner Awaroa arrived from Wangauui this morning, and sailed into harbor on the top of high water. She has made rather a long passage across, earned mainly by the adverse winds which she experienced. The schooner Clio, which left here last Sunday week for Westport, arrived there on the 12 th, and was towed into port by the se. Tui. The ship Camperdown was to leave Wellington yesterday for San Francisco. 'i he steamer Tararua is about to be laid up to be fitted with her new boiler and compound engines recently received from England. A epar deck will also be built, after the style of , the Albion, which will materially add to her sea-going qualities
