The Taranaki left Wellington for Nelson via Picton at noon to-day. She will sail for the North at 6 p.m. to-morrow. The Wallace arrived at Gr.ymoulh this morning, and intended proceeding to Hokitika to pick up the outward S*n Francisco mall, but the bar is reported in so bad a state that it is useless for her to attempt it yet. She will, therefore, remain at Greymoath until Monday, by which time the mail, if the bar continues impracticable, will be forwarded to her overland. The Lyttelton sailed for Blenheim at eight o'clock last night. The Alhambra arrived from Melbourne via Weßt Coast ports thia afternoon. The Kennedy sailed for West Coast p3rts, with the inward San Francisco mail, this morning. The Murray tailed this afternoon for Wanganui. The Helen Denny was to sail from London for Nelson and Napier on the 6th of July, ond the Lochnagar for Nelßin and Poverty Bay at the end of tbat month The Lady Barkly sailed for her usual trip to Golden Bay this morning. The Bchooner Uno sailed for Adele Island tbis morning fur a cargo of stone. Mr Leys, lato chief enginer of the steamer Phoebe, his been appointed ch : ef engineer «.f one of the steam dredgers at Lyttelton. He was a passenger by the Hawea to-day, on bis way to Lyttelton. The Union Company's s.s. Hawea, E. Wheeler commander, c.me intolmrbor shortly after six o'clock this morning. She left Onehunga at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, and arrived ofl Taranaki at 8a m. yest.*day; lande . passengers and cargo, and proceeded on to Nelson at 3.15 p.m., arriving here at five o'clock this morning Light Winds with fine weather marked the passage down. The H.wea was the bearer of the inward San Francisco mail. She sailed South at 4 p tn. A steam dredger for tbe South Australian Government was launcbed from the yards of Messrs Simon and Co-, Renfrew, on Mai 7 26th . Tbe following are her dimensions :— Length, 182tt; breadth, 33ftj depth, I3£it. She is fitted up with two sets of surface-ondensiog compound engines, each coupled to its separate independent twin screw propeller, and collectively of 500 effective hone-power. The Wilunga, far su.h is her name is the fifth hopper dredger, and the largest one constructed on the Clyde.
