_. Auckland, Friday, The magistrate sentenced the routineers of the Crown thorpe to only four to seven months imprisonment.
A team has been chosen to combat! the Christchurch football plajers. Mr Buckland reports— Fat cattle, 30s per lOOlbs; sheep, 3 \ per lb. Mr Binney reports— Flour (star brand). £14 to £15; oats, 2s 9d to 3s ; barley, 35.6 d to 4s; pollard, £5; bran, £7 10s; ham and bacon, iod to Is.
Mr Saunders reports— Buyers ; Bank of New Zealand shares, £18 ss; South British, 548; National insurance. 245; Standard, 12s. Sellers : New Zealand Shipping Company, 3 i; New Zealand Ina-irance, 80a.
t Wellington, Saturday. Mr O'Shea reports produce prices as follows:— Flour £11 10s to £12 for best brands; oats, 2s 3d to 2s 7d, retail; maize, 4s sdto4s9d; bran, Is Id to Is 2d; pollard, £7; wheat, chick, 4s 3d; milling, no sale; hams, iod; bacon, 9d; potatoes, well stocked, 75s to 80s.
Gretmouth, Friday. The steamer Maori while being towed out by the Dispatch was slewed by the ebb tide and got on the South Spit. When she touched the tow-line slipped from on board. However, she is in a safe position, and will probably get off next tide.
Saturday, The Maori got off the Spit this morning without sustaining any damage.
_ Blenheim, Saturday. -The following are the amounts of insurance on the premises destroyed bj fire yesterday : — M'Elwain's premises, of the supposed value of £700, were insured in the Victoria for £1000 and the Standard for £200. A mortgage is also insured in the National for £400. Carter's building was insured in the Liverpool and London for £300 and Imperial £- , iin., The stock was uninsured. Bank of New Zealand— Building and furniture insured in the New Zealand Office for £1100. National Bank—Building insared in the Norwich Union for .£2OO and National for £150. The furniture was also insured in the National for £140. These premises tore all destroyed, but some of the furniture was saved from both Banks, and some stock from Carter's. Ewart's hotel *was insured for about £3000 in four offices. The loss will be about £4UO or £500. The causa of the Are is unknown. An inqujiat will be held.
