The Luna, with his Excellency the Marquis of Normanby on board, -sailed from "Wellington for Nelson this morning, and will arrive early to-morrow. As the visit is a strictly private one there will be no demonstration of any kind whatever. The members of the Naval Brigade are ordered out for shot practice from the battery on Haul Ashore Island at three p.m. to-morrow. There will be a football match ia the Botanical Gardens to-morrow afternoon. The Hokitika bar is in so bad a state that Messrs N. Edwards and Co., the owners of the Anchor line of steamers, have been compelled to decide not to book passengers or ship cargo for that port until some improvement is reported. At the present time there are a number of sailing vessels from various ports lying outside, some of them having been there for several weeks. There was no evening sitting of the House last night. The debate on the Government measures is to commence this evening. Dr. Carr has been performing with great success in the Waimeas, his seances at Richmond and Spring Grove having been crowded to excess. He wiil appear at Richmond again tomorrow evening, and in other parts of the country districts as per advertisement. If Dr Bakewell's letter on Beet Root Sugar, which was published yesterday, two errors occurred. Por " vaccum pan " read " vacuum pan," and for "wheeled round " read " whirled round." Another very interesting evangelistic meeting was held at the Temperance Hall last night, when a number of gentlemen took part in the service. The Lady Barkly, which arrived from Golden Bay last evening, brought 132 ounces of gold from the Golden Ridge mine, West Wanganui, and also 30 ounces, order. Episcopalian church property at Reefton was recently seized under a writ oififa, owing, as it was generally supposed at the time, to the liabilities of the Vestry. We learn now, however, from the Westport Times, that, in the absence of any legally-appointed trustees, the Crown Grant was issued in the name of one of the Committee, and that no transfer had since been made. Some keen-scented creditor of the individual alluded to ferreted out this fact and turned it to account, to the consternation of the Vestry.
