Mr Rees gave notice for a select committee to enquire into the complaints of Farnall against the General Government. On the motion of the Premier, who said he was auti >g in nccorJance with the wishes of the ll<u«e, it was resolved that there should be no evening sitting. Mr Stout alone opposed. On the m tion of Mr Murmy, it was resaheitliata returnshojld be prepared showing the cxpen iiture out of the loan and revenue from June 1872, for Native and Defence purpo;es. It was aho agreed that a return should be prepared showing what salaried (over £250 p; r annum) officers ol the General Government were permitted to receive remuneration for service outside of their salaries. lhe Government agreed to appoint a select committee to inquire into the rabbit nuisance. Mr Wakefield moved that Sir Dillon Eell and Sir David Mjnro b?. communicated with by the Sjeiker, with a viaw of Having their portraits placed alongside that of Sir Charles Clifford. Ihe motion was withdrawn at lhe request of the Hou*e. The adjourned debate on clause 9 of the Local Option Liceasi-g Bill was resumed and continued for some time.
