'I be Alhambra Arrived from Melbourne via j West Coast ports this morning, nnJ will s*il for Wellington and South at 7 p.m. She brought on her cargo for rfokitika and Grevxnouth for transhipment to the Anchor line of steamers. A signal for a topsail schooner has been flying all tbe aftfrnoon. We know of no vessel of that riff expected, unless it be the schooner Bonnie Lass from Greymouth. The schooner Elizabeth Curie hauled into tha stream this afternoon, and will be towed to sea by the Lady Barkly this evening. Her destination is the Pelorus Sou»d. The Ansdell arrived at Hokianga from Nr-l jon on tho 13th in-tant. The Lady B'.rkly returned from Golden Bay last evening, and will sail for Havelock this evening at six o'clock. The schooner Uno arrived this morning from Adele IMand with a cargo of etone, which she discharged between the t^o wharves. A number of coasters that have been wea-ther-bound for. ihe last two days took their departure last evening. The Ti,ranaki sailed for the South at 5 p.m. yesterday, a;.d arrived at Wellington at II o'clouk this morning. Our Dnnedin telegrams mention that the steamer Taupo sleimel up to the Dunedin ' whtrf yesterday, she drawing at the time 12ft 6in of water Although the steamers Taranaki and Wellington have for some time past gone up to Dunedin, there has not b;en suffii ienfc water to admit of so large a vessel as the Taupo going up the channel. This latest achievement will conhr a great b^on on the passengers nnd shippers pen; rally. The Wa'l«ce left Nelson nt 6 15 p ni. on the 10th, bound for Hokitika direct; experienced a moderate ES.E. breeze and smooth gea; eased tbe engine-* at 4 p.m next day, arriving off Hokitika at 2 n.m. on the 12th; at ten o'clonk received signals from shore to proceed to Greymouth; stared at 11 a.m, arriving there at 1 to pm on the 17th; discharged Hokitika cargo in o tbe Kennedy, and coaled for the return trip; towed the echooner Mary Cimpbell to sea on the 18th. and left for the Norlh at 6 p.m, encountering a strong head wind with dense fog and lumpy pea, arrivi g at Westport at 7 a ra on the 19th; remained there 24 houra on account of bad weather, leaving for Nelson at 930 a.m. on the 20th, and arrived here at 745 this reorning. Experienced a strong S.W. wind as far as Cape Farewell. Passed the Murray abrea?t of Wanganui Inlet at 9 p.m. yesterday. She sails for West Coast ports at 9 am. oa Sunday,
