Blenhfim, Monday. Sir -David Monro waa fined £iQ to-day in the Magistrate's. Court for non-compliaoce with the Marborough Scab Act as to dipping or dressing after mustering for shearing twice before the 30th May. Sfr David had a flock of 3000 dipped after shearing, bit, instead of dipping or dressing the whole" "flock 'a second time, only those that were actually scabby were dressed. Notice of appeal was given. ' Gbetmodth, Monday. C A fire occurred at 4 o'clock this morning, at P. Hanny's hotel, la Tainui-street. through a Mrs, Barrett leaving a candle alight when going to bed; she was awoke with the place in flames; *he was badly burnt, and. is now in the hospital. The Fire Brigade worked splendidly, and saved all the house except the upetaira bedroom*, which were completely gutted. The honse was insured in the New Zealand and the National. Hokitika, Monday. The rush at the Teremakau is progressing satisfactorily, and upwards of forty claims are on good gold. Dunbdin, Monday, The tender of Hegslow and Keen has been accepted by the Government for the construction of two first class and three second-class carriages, prices for the former, £325 each, and for the latter, £250. The skating rink ia a great success. A skating club is to be formed in connection with it.
