The Nelson Evening Mail. MONDAY, JULY 10, 1876.

The annual meeting of the parishioners of Christ Church will be held in the vestry to-morrow evening at halfpast seven. Dr. Carr's seance on Saturday night was again well attended, and afforded much amusement. He will give one more this evening. We have to acknowledge the receipt from the G-overnment printer of the Finarcial Statement in extenso, a_td of No. 4t Hansard. A well contested game of football was played on Saturday afternoon between twelve present and three old Collegians, and fifteen of the Town Club. The town men were rather too heavy for their slighter but very active opponents, and the result of the game was one goal for the town, kicked by Roberts, against two tries for the College who, if the game had been scored by points, would have been the winners. The return match will be played on Saturday. In the Resident Magistrate's Court this morning, John Hale, of Nelson nursery gardener, sued Robert Anderson, of Happy Valley, for £36 63 6d, being ten weeks loss of labor at 10a a day and £6 6s expenses for medical attendance, the cause of action being that the defendant's horse and cart, owing to his servant's negligent driving, ran into the plaintiff's cart, thereby inflicting an injury upon him which for the time named prevented him from attending to his business. Mr Acton Adams appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr Pitt for the defendant. After hearing evidence on both sides, his Worship said he would reserve judgment.
