THE following BYE-LAW. passed by the NELSON CITY COUNCIL at a Meeting held on Tcesoat, the 27th Jdwh, 1876, ii published pur uant to Section 190 of the " Municipal Corporations Act, 1867 " K. V. GULLY, Town Clerk. Bye-Law op the Codncil of the Cixr op Nelson. In pursuance of the '• Municipal Corpora tions Act, 1867," tha Council of the City of Nehon hereby make the followiog Bye-Law : : GORSE. ■'■'', Any person Tvrhd' shair infringe or break ' this Bye-law, or reglect, omit, or refuse to door perform any of .. .the matters therein directed to be . done or performed by him, shall for e*rery such . offence or omission bo liable to forfeit ' and pay any penalty no** exceeding (he ~ sum ot £5 tor any one offence. 1.-r-The occupier, or iv case there shall be no occupier,' the owner, or agent of ' the owner of any laud withia the City . of Nelson upon which a gorse hedge shall be growing, or to which such hedge shall form the bound .-ry, shall in the months, of May. or June, and Novtmber or Dece*>.btr,. in .every year, cause such hedge to be properly - trimmed, .and shall not at any time permit -the same to exceed th'rty inches in width : provided that .where' euch hedge shall net adjoin or divide the land of euch ccupier or owner from any public street or place, then such occupier Or owner shall only be liable to trim hii sida of such ludge, and the other clie thereof (-hall be t<*immei by the occupier or owuer of the land on the other side of euch hedge. 2.— The owner, or in case there shall bo no owner resident within the Colony, the occupier of any lan 1 within the City of Nelson upon which auy gorse, thorn, sweet briar, or docks shall be growing, cr beiug oth**r than in a properly trimmed hedge, shall .within' tliirty days after ' receiving from the City Council a written notice signed by the Town Clerk ct the ssid City, or their Solicitor, n quiring him so to do (which notice may be served pirsonally, or affixed to the sai i land), grub up, clear, and destroy all tuch gorae, thorn, sweetbriars, or dock?, and thereafter keep the eaid land free from the same. 3.
