The Government have received the following telegram from New South Wales:— The agreement is concluded, and the Simoom is to leave here on Tuesfiay night, proceeding via 'Townsville to. Port Darwin to take up the regular service between Port Darwin and Btngoewanjie. The condition*-) and cost are. — The Gov* raments retain the power to cancel tha service either at Sydney, Townsville, Port Darwin, or at any other line (by payment for the current round trip) in the event of the cable being rep tired. The Friendly Societies' conference concluded last night, when, after amendments and alterations were proposed, it ' was carried as the opinion ofthe meeting that the Friendly So cicties Bill should be delayed till next session. The total amount of rev< nue received at the Customs tor the month ending yesterday was £26 688, that forth) conesponding month last year £ 24,45 c , showing an increase of £2,933. For the quarter enilihg 30th Juna, the smouut totted up was £83 398, an i for the corresponding quarter in 1875, tha total attuned was £84,562, showing a decrease of £1,164. The nett amourt of Customs duties for 'he financial year, ending yesterday, was £360 310. for tha same period ending 3)th June 1875, a total of £362 809 was obtained -showing a decrease of £ 2,499. David Henry -Harrison was drowned last night while crossing the Hawea Biver. The body bas been recovered. < A body, supposed to be that of tha second steward ot the Tui, has been picked up in Cinoe Creek, north of the Gr^y, frightlully ' dufly-urid: • | This morning a drunken sailor belonging to the ketch Sarah and Mary, named Charles Donovan, came on board and wanted a m-in, ' named James Hudl, who was sober i*\ bed, to come and drink. Hudd refused, and Donovan then dragged him out to fight, which at last he consented to do. During the tussle both men fell overboird, and Hudd was drowned. The body his not yet been recovered. Hudd had a matter mariner's certificate, and had lately arrived from home.
